Parks deserves to be reelected as county supervisor

Linda Parks is once again asking for the privilege of representing us as our county supervisor. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Linda and her staff on several local projects over the years, and I don’t know anyone more qualified for this position.

Linda Parks has been a consistent advocate for seniors. She has organized our annual Senior Summit, which this year brought together 350 seniors and senior service professionals to tackle numerous problems commonly facing Ventura County seniors.

Moreover, she’s following the talk with action. Her staff is actively engaged in implementing the Thousand Oaks Senior Adult Master Plan.

Linda Parks has been a consistent and passionate advocate for open space and wildlife corridors. Her efforts have helped to preserve some of the richest farmland in the nation, our heritage, so that we have to buy less of our food from other countries where pesticide use is beyond our control. As an advocate for wildlife corridors, she has reduced contact between wildlife and humans, a benefit to both parties.

Linda Parks helped to keep the Thousand Oaks Library open by leading a successful effort to transfer funds from the county’s general fund.

In her roles as Thousand Oaks planning commissioner, city council member and mayor, and as county supervisor, Linda Parks has voted to approve key development projects such as Amgen, The Promenade shopping center, fitness centers and restaurants.

Linda Parks has led efforts to reduce use of harmful pesticides and to get Boeing to adequately clean up the Santa Susana Field Laboratory site. She’s repeatedly shown concern that Ventura County residents have a safe living and working environment.

I’ve found Linda to be an honest and trustworthy leader who walks the walk.

Paraphrasing Michael Douglas in the movie “American President,” Linda Parks is our county supervisor.
