A conservative Republican and proud of it
Regarding all the hand wringing and angst regarding Mrs. Strickland’s desire to run for county treasurer and the concern regarding her lack of qualifications for the position—I, too, support having qualifications for that position as well as other government jobs and also agree with term limits—I wonder how these people, along with supervisors Long and Bennett in particular, would have reacted had Audra Strickland been a Democrat.
I lay you dollars to doughnuts we wouldn’t have heard a peep out of them. Wanna bet?
Also I wonder how the same people reacted to the qualifications of the present occupant in the White House before his election, as well as the majority of his administration appointees, e.g. Eric Holder, who’s granting the same trial rights to known terrorists as U.S. citizens—oy vey!
I could go on and on, but space doesn’t allow.
And regarding Ms. Jensen’s letter concerning Republicans politicizing the war on terror, what planet is she living on?
As I recall, it was the Democrats, in their zeal to regain power, along with their accomplices in the media, who did everything in their power during the Bush administration to undermine our efforts by providing aid and comfort to our enemies on a daily basis with their incessant drumbeating and demonstrating about pulling out and giving up, e.g. Harry Reid saying, “We’ve lost the war” and “The surge isn’t working.”
Even Obama finally had to admit it worked.
And, of course, the so-called “mainstream media” never acknowledged our victories and successes, but only dwelled on shortcomings or setbacks.
Thank God the present day media wasn’t around in World War II, or we all would be eating borsht and living under a flag with a swastika on it.
