Poetry and music featured in ‘Universe of Dreams’ at Civic Arts Plaza tomorrow

Neal Conan of NPR will host the show

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation will present A Universe of Dreams at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 15, at the Fred Kavli Theatre at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

The show is part of the “Live From the Plaza” series and melds music, poetry, stories and projected images from the Hubble space telescope. Neal Conan, host of NPR’s “Talk of the Nation,” and the Celtic/early music crossover group Ensemble Galilei will provide the musical backdrop for works by American poets.

Ensemble Galilei will perform Irish, Scottish, early and original music on a variety of ancient and modern instruments, including the Celtic harp, gamba, fiddle, recorders, whistles and percussion.

A Universe of Dreams includes text from Michael Glaser, Jim Harrison, Stanley Kunitz, Ann Lister, V.P. Loggins, William Shakespeare, Hermes Trismegistus and a Navajo creation myth retold by Ray Williamson.
