T.O. man, 46, arrested, bail set at $1 million on felony allegations
Thousand Oaks resident Michael Lee Brunton, 46, was held on $1-million bail after he was arrested on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, committing lewd acts on a child and residential burglary.
Brunton allegedly forced his way into and waited inside his stepsister’s home on Camino Graciosa in Thousand Oaks at 8:10 a.m. Dec. 17 until she returned from taking her children to school. Then, police say, he attacked the 43-year-old woman with a pry bar.
The alleged attack stemmed from his stepsister’s accusation that Brunton had inappropriate contact with her daughter, who was inside the house during the confrontation.
The daughter tried to get away, but Brunton allegedly chased the girl and pulled her back inside the house, where he continued attacking her mother.
When police confronted Brunton inside the home, he surrendered.
The woman was taken to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, where she was in serious condition. She has since been released from the hospital, Detective Allen Devers said.
