Girls’ basketball team at NPHS is a group of winners

I want to extend a big thankyou to the Newbury Park High School Lady Panther basketball team and their coaches, especially assistant coach Alex Mallen, for conducting a free basketball clinic at NPHS on Dec. 12.

Thanks also to Nfinity for sponsoring the clinic and to the high school for opening up the gym for our girls. It was two solid hours of drills, tips and training for local girls.

Nearly 50 girls participated and received a free T-shirt, as well as demonstrations of ball handling and agility by the Lady Panthers. Congratulations, too, to Miranda Seixas, a Sycamore Canyon seventh-grader, for winning the knockout competition.

It was great to have this free event provided right in our own community. The Lady Panthers won their home opener against Moorpark High School by 19 points with some nice outside shooting. Come on out and support the team; they’re exciting to watch.
