Hit-and-run investigation continues in T.O.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is investigating a hit-and-run injury traffic accident involving a vehicle and a bicyclist that occurred at 4:39 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 1200 block of Calle Pensamiento.

The male bicyclist, 9, of Thousand Oaks, was riding west on Calle Pensamiento when he turned north and attempted to cross the street. A motor vehicle was traveling west on Calle Pensamiento and collided with the bicyclist.

Immediately after the collision occurred, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was last seen heading west on Calle Pensamiento going toward Avenida de Las Plantas.

Personnel from the Ventura County Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to the scene. The juvenile was rushed by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Deputies searched the area with the assistance of a helicopter but were unable to locate the vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was described as a green full-size pickup with silver trim. The driver was described as a Hispanic male, 40 to 50 years old, 5-foot-5-inches to 5-foot-10-inches, heavy set, with brown hair, brown eyes and a mustache.
