Ventura Community College District reorganizes
The Ventura County Community College District board of trustees elected Robert Huber as chair and Cheryl Heitmann as vice chair at a recent annual reorganization meeting. Stephen Blum, Arturo Hernández and Larry Miller will continue serving as board trustees.
Huber has served on the board since 2004 and represents Area 4, which includes East Las Posas Valley, Moorpark, Simi Valley and Santa Susana. He is a practicing attorney in Ventura County.
Huber is a former member of the Simi Valley City Council, past chair of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Simi Valley Rotary Club and a charter member of the board of the Simi Valley Community Foundation.
In 2008, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Simi Valley Chamber for his work in community service and was honored recently with the Nordman Public Service Award by the Ventura County Bar Association for outstanding charitable activities throughout Ventura County.
Heitmann has served on the board since 2002 and represents Area 2, which includes part of Oxnard Plain, Point Mugu, Santa Rosa Valley, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village (Ventura County portion), Hidden Valley, Yerba Buena and Oak Park.
Heitmann is executive director of the Ventura Music Festival. She is a member of the Ventura County Energy Alliance and a board member of the United Way of Ventura County, Downtown Ventura Organization, and Downtown Ventura Partners. She brings more than 17 years of fundraising for local, state and national clientele.
Heitmann was honored as one of the top 50 women business leaders in the Tri-County area in 2008 and recently was recognized as Who’s Who in Nonprofits and Foundations in Ventura County.
