Regarding Carolyn Guillot’s Nov. 19 letter (“Uncle Sam is out of control with cap and trade”), she’s terrified of cap and trade, probably the most effective program that actually reduces carbon dioxide emissions?

Really?

If we are to believe her, then we should just stick with the status quo; our addiction to oil. In fact let’s continue to be whipsawed by volatile energy prices and funnel rising gas prices to regimes in the Mideast supporting terrorism.

Let’s stay with a carbon-based economy while China takes the lead on developing renewable energy technology and manufacturing of electric vehicles.

Let’s continue to subsidize car manufacturers while other countries develop a green-jobs economy. Yes, let’s hunker down and not support new policies that threaten established economic vested interests.
