Water tank to be replaced
California Water Service Company recently began a 15month water system improvement project that, along with recently completed pump upgrades, will improve water supply reliability, increase water pressure and enhance the system’s firefighting capacity.
The project involves demolishing a 4-million-gallon storage tank and building a new one on the property near Sunnyhill Street and Heritage Place, Thousand Oaks.
According to Cal Water District Manager Don Jensen, the utility is working closely with the contractor to minimize inconvenience to project neighbors.
“We’re going to do everything we possibly can to be a good neighbor. We are limiting the work hours to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and we’re taking steps to minimize the dust, noise and traffic that a project like this can generate,” he said.
The project is expected to take 15 months to complete. Cal Water invites customers to sign up for periodic e-mail updates at ykingman@calwater.com.
Cal Water serves about 16,600 people through 7,100 service connections in Westlake Village and a portion of Thousand Oaks.
The company has provided water service in the area since 1983.
