Ventura County Fire Department promotes veteran to fire marshall
Massoud Araghi
The Ventura County Fire Department has announced the promotion of Massoud Araghi to the position of fire marshal. Araghi, a licensed fire protection engineer, has been a member of the department’s Fire Prevention Bureau since 1987.
In his new position he will lead the bureau.
Araghi has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from USC and has been instrumental in developing policies on fire sprinklers, stove hood suppression systems and other fire prevention systems in Ventura County.
“Massoud Araghi is the right choice for this position,” said Fire Chief Bob Roper. “His background with the technical side of the fire codes, his knowledge of fire prevention systems and his management skills will all serve the Fire Prevention Bureau and the citizens of Ventura County well.”
Araghi has been an instructor at the California State Fire Academy for the past 18 years and teaches a class in fire protection equipment and systems at Oxnard College.
Before his promotion, he supervised the engineering unit of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Araghi has filled the fire marshal role on a temporary basis for the last six months and his official duties begin immediately.
Based out of the department’s fire administration building at the Camarillo Airport, Araghi can be reached on his office line at (805) 389-9729.
