‘A Christmas Carol’ opens tonight at Civic Arts Plaza

Thousand Oaks Repertory Company presents a musical version of “A Christmas Carol” running from Dec. 10 through 15 in the Scherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Dec. 11 and 12 and 2:30 p.m. Sat., and Sun., Dec. 12 and 13.
Children’s performances will be at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 10, 11, 14 and 15. The senior performance will be at noon Mon., Dec. 14.
The play is based on the book by Charles Dickens, with adaptation by J.C. Egan and music by Rick and Vivian Rhodes.
Alan Hunt, chair of the drama department at Oak Park High School, is the director. The role of Ebenezer Scrooge will be played by Edd Hall, the voice of Merv Griffin’s “Crosswords” and former “Tonight Show” announcer.
The play is the classic story about Ebenezer Scrooge, a miser with a less-than-festive holiday attitude, who is visited by the three spirits of Christmas past, present and future who teach him the spirit of giving.
