The city of Moorpark invites Southern California artists to compete for selection as the featured artist for the 2010 Moorpark Arts Festival on Sat., April 25 in downtown Moorpark.

The competition is open to all artists in Ventura and West Los Angeles counties. All types of visual art media will be accepted.

The annual festival attracts up to 2,000 visitors for a showcase of visual art, music, theater and children’s activities. Each year an established or emerging artist is offered a daylong exhibition. The artist’s images are used in promotional materials for the festival.

The material submission deadline is 4 p.m. Fri., Dec. 18. Materials may be hand delivered or mailed, but must arrive by the deadline.

Materials may be mailed to Attn: Peggy Rothschild, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, City of Moorpark, 799 Moorpark Ave., Moorpark, CA 93021.

Hand-delivered items may be taken to the Active Adult Center, 799 Moorpark Ave., Moorpark.
