Federalist Society will host debate on healthcare
The public is invited to attend a forum sponsored by the Gold Coast Chapter of The Federalist Society titled “The Nationalization of Health Care: Is it Constitutional?” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tues., Dec. 15 at California Lutheran University’s Lundring Events Center, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. The event is free.
The forum will feature a panel discussion with four scholars: Doug Bandow, senior fellow at the Cato Institute; Sean Kelly, associate professor of political science, Cal State Channel Islands; Shirley Svorney, adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute and professor of economics, Cal State Northridge; and Michael Cousineau, associate professor of research and director of community health family medicine at USC Medical School.
The current debate about healthcare reform is also a discussion about what role theĀ federal government can and should play in the provision of healthcare. The panel will discuss the issue and several proposals set forth in competing House and Senate legislation along with the president’s proposals.
The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a nonpartisan organization, founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom and the separation of governmental powers is central to the Constitution.
