Moorpark United Methodist Church will host an Alternative Christmas market from 10 a.m. to noon Sun., Dec. 6 at the church at Third Street and Flory Avenue.

Shoppers can buy a variety of gifts that benefit disadvantaged people in Third World countries, such as livestock, books, a water pump, emergency shelter or building tools. The recipient receives a personalized card with a picture of the gift, and the gift itself goes to impoverished people.

Handmade crafts and “Fair Trade” coffee, tea and chocolate will also be on sale.
