Superintendent is a class act for praising staff

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Mario Contini, superintendent of Conejo Valley Unified School District, for his column in the Nov. 5 Thousand Oaks Acorn expressing his favorable comments regarding support staff in public education.

While I’m not an employee of Conejo Valley Unified School District, I’ve been part of the support staff in a neighboring school district for more than two decades.

I can only speak for myself, of course, but I’m sure that there are those who chose their professions based on the fact that they were support positions.

Not all of us are destined to be––or desire to be––in a leadership position and feel comfortable being one of the “worker bees” behind the scenes that keep our organizations moving forward on a daily basis.

It is, however, nice to receive those “atta-boys” every now and again, and, Mr. Contini, I personally appreciate your acknowledgement. Kathy Petrash Thousand Oaks
