Emmanuel Presbyterian to serve turkey dinner

The third annual Conejo Valley Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Thousand Oaks, 588 Camino Manzanas. Neighbors and volunteers will serve everyone who comes through the door from noon to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day.

A turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, vegetable dishes, dinner rolls, pies and all the other trimmings will be served buffet style.

Bus service will be available at three pickup points: the Thousand Oaks day laborer site at Royal Oaks Drive and Hampshire Road at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.; Thousand Oaks Lutheran Social Services, 80 E. Hillcrest Drive, at 11:40 a.m., 12:40 p.m. and 1:40 p.m.; and the Evangelical Free Church, 999 Rancho Conejo Blvd. in Newbury Park, at 11:50 a.m., 12:50 p.m. and 1:50 p.m. All diners will be returned to their original pickup spots.

Former Manna executive director John Gorham said his new nonprofit, Conejo Valley CARES, will provide at least 12 turkeys, “more if needed,” to the dinner.

Others wanting to make donations can do so. Bring nonperishable foods to the church today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Perishable foods will be accepted after 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day tomorrow.
