Beverly Hills deli opens at The Lakes

Nate ’n Al, a well-known Beverly Hills deli, opened a second location this week at The Lakes in Thousand Oaks, 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Nate ’n Al opened its doors in Beverly Hills in 1945.

The deli is known for its rye bread, which is baked fresh daily using a “double baked” process that makes it crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The corn beef and pastrami is premier Angus beef. Smoked fish is flown in daily from New York City.

David Mendelson has created a tuna salad that has become a signature dish. Mendelson is the grandson of Al Mendelson, who became the sole owner of the deli after his longtime partner Nate Reimer retired in the 1950s.

The deli is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The deli also offers catering, which can be delivered throughout the area.
