Westlake man receives Scroll of Honor

The Knox-Lombard Fifty Year Club of Knox College recently awarded a Scroll of Honor to John “Jack” Munson of Westlake Village during the club’s annual homecoming luncheon.

The award is presented to members in recognition of lifetime achievements in community service. The Fifty Year Club is an alumni organization of Knox College, Galesburg, Ill.

Munson received the award for his dedication to the management of software development and computer technology as well as his support of the college.

Munson graduated from the college in 1955. He retired from the Unisys Corporation space systems division as vice president and general manager, where he managed all the computer systems in flight operations for the space shuttle for 10 years.

Prior to this position, Munson served as president of International Software Systems and corporate vice president of technical operations at System Development Corporation, an information processing systems company in Washington, D.C.

He served on the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board for six years and was inducted into the National Management Association Hall of Fame in 1994. He has more than 30 years experience applying computer technology to military and space systems.

He is married to Anne Cooper Munson, also a Knox College graduate.
