Exchange old holiday lights for new

Thousand Oaks residents will have an opportunity to trade in old holiday lights and receive a new strand of Light Emitting Diode (LED) energy-saving holiday lights as part of an exchange event conducted by the city’s Public Works Department through the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, in partnership with Southern California Edison.

Light strands will be available while supplies last and distributed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the office of the Public Works Department, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

Participants must have a Thousand Oaks residence identification, such as driver’s license or Southern California Edison bill. The light strands are limited to one per household. Residents who bring in one old strand of lights will receive one new energy-saving LED strand in exchange.

The new LED holiday lights can last up to 20,000 hours. The lights are available in holiday colors and can be used indoors or outside.
