Golden fleece myth retold at arts plaza
Performances To Grow On will present Visible Fiction’s “Jason and the Argonauts” at 7 p.m. Fri., Nov. 20 in the Scherr Forum Theatre, Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.
The show runs 65 minutes and features two actors. Visible Fictions of Scotland is touring a physical and irreverent telling of the ancient Greek myth. Playing with scale, invention, action figures and a transformative cart, the show is an adventure story with monsters, romance, destiny, heroism and revenge.
Jason’s uncle has murdered his brother, the king, and stolen the kingdom. Nobody dares stand up to him except Jason. But to unite the people again, Jason and his crew must sail on the Argo to the other side of the world to find the Golden Fleece.
Visible Fictions has been performing around the world for more than 16 years. They were the first Scottish theater company invited to perform on Broadway. “Jason” was honored as the best youth performance of the year at the International Showcase of the Arts.
