More affordable housing coming to Thousand Oaks
More multifamily, affordable apartments will be built in Thousand Oaks.
The City Council voted unanimously last week to approve a $16-million, 60-unit affordableapartment development that will include 10 residential buildings, a community center and underground parking on 2.2 acres on Los Feliz Drive.
Nonprofit affordable-housing provider Area Housing Authority of Ventura County will build the project and provide one-, twoand three-bedroom units for about 200 extremely-low-income or very-low-income residents. Rents will range from $600 to $1,200.
The planning commission approved the project in September, but the council needed to change the zoning from medium-density residential with 15 to 20 units per acre to high-density residential with up to 30 units per acre.
The city’s Redevelopment Agency helped the housing authority purchase the site.
