Future Foundation will host water conservation symposium this Sunday in Calabasas

Families will get water-saving advice

The Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation will present a free symposium, “Water Crisis: You Can Be a Solution,” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., Nov. 15 at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road, Calabasas.

The workshop will give families ideas on how they can weather the crisis.

A vendor fair will also be conducted during the symposium.

Local and regional water officials will share information on the state of the water crisis during the first hour of the event, followed by a question-and-answer session. Mini-workshops on efficient irrigation design and drought-resistant and fire-wise landscaping will be offered throughout the day.

Linda Maletesta, executive director of the foundation, said guests will be treated to free hot dogs.

The event is sponsored by the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the Calleguas Municipal Water District, the California Water Service Company, LifeSource Water Systems and the cities of Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Calabasas and Westlake Village.
