FULL SPEED AHEAD—Oaks Christian running back Malcolm Jones breaks free from a tackle by Oak Park’s Ryan Schaffer. FULL SPEED AHEAD—Oaks Christian running back Malcolm Jones breaks free from a tackle by Oak Park’s Ryan Schaffer. Westlake (8-0) at Simi Valley (1-7)

Outlook: Westlake and Moorpark are both one win away from setting up a Marmonte League championship game in the teams’ regular-season finale Nov. 13 at Westlake.

The Warriors, however, must first take care of business this weekend at Simi Valley, which is coming off its first victory of the year, a 28-14 come-from-behind win against Calabasas.

Westlake played fantastic on both sides of the ball in shutting out Royal 38-0 in Week 8.

Last week’s game was the third time this season that the Warriors held an opponent to seven points or less.

The Warriors are ranked 15th in the state by MaxPreps.com.

OCHS (8-0) vs. Santa Clara (1-7)

Outlook: Oaks Christian continues to steamroll its Tri-Valley League foes.

The Lions hammered rival Oak Park 59-0 last weekend. It was OCHS’ second consecutive shutout and third of the season.

In three league games to date, Oaks Christian has outscored its opposition 167-6.

Despite the eye-opening numbers, the Lions continue to slide down MaxPreps.com’s national and state rankings because of their weak strength of schedule.

In the latest rankings, OCHS was ninth in California and 50th in the nation. Earlier in the year, Oaks Christian had cracked the nation’s top 10 and was at the top of the state poll.

Last week’s top performers

Michael Tack, DB/HB, Westlake: The senior scored on a 90-yard interception return and added a 49-yard touchdown reception as the Warriors roughed up Royal, 38-0.

Oaks Christian defense: OCHS posted its second straight shutout in league play with a 59-0 thrashing of Oak Park. The Eagles managed only 86 yards of total offense and five first downs.

Newbury Park rush defense: The Panthers’ big boys up front held Agoura to 32 rushing yards on 20 attempts in Week 8.

Cameron Schneider, LB/DB, Thousand Oaks: Schneider had 11 tackles against Moorpark.
