Westlake’s Kang finishes the job
Senior shoots 68 before winning in a playoff at CIF individual regional
      Danielle Kang’s amazing season on the links just got a little better. The Westlake High senior fired a 4-under-par 68 Tuesday afternoon at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai to tie for first place through 18 holes at the CIFSouthern Section Northern Individual Regional.

Warrior boys, Oak Park girls run away with V.C. cross country crowns
      Westlake and Oak Park high schools were big winners at last weekend’s Ventura County Cross Country Championships at Lake Casitas in Ojai. The Warriors edged past shorthanded Royal to claim the boys’ team title, while Oak Park outpaced Simi Valley for the girls’ championship.

The Acorn’s High School Football Game of the Week
Thousand Oaks Lancers (4-4) at Royal Highlanders (3-5) Friday, 7 p.m.
      A win and they’re in. A loss and they’re in deep sauce. The Thousand Oaks High football team travels to Royal for its penultimate league game knowing a victory guarantees a postseason berth and a defeat puts the team in serious jeopardy of missing the big dance.

Youth lacrosse teams being formed
      Thousand Oaks Lacrosse will field a new boys’ team in the second- through fourth-grade division of the Southern California Lacrosse Association. Furthermore, girls in second grade through fifth grade will be able to play lacrosse in the Conejo Valley, as the SCLA has partnered with L.A. Women’s Lacrosse to form a local league.

NPHS to host Black and Gold baseball event
      Newbury Park High’s baseball program will hold its inaugural Black and Gold game on Saturday. It will be the first time that all three levels of the baseball program will take the field together for a friendly competition.
