Cadette Girl Scout Troop No. 60711 of Thousand Oaks is collecting Beanie Babies and knitting scarves for service men and women through Nov. 30.

The Cadettes are holding workshops to teach younger Girl Scouts about community service and to host collections at their elementary schools.

Participating schools include Weathersfield, Lang Ranch, Ladera, Los Cerritos and Santa Rosa Tech.

Girl Scout troops throughout Conejo Valley are selling nuts through Thanksgiving, Nov. 26. The nuts can be purchased to give to members of the military.
