HONORED—Oaks Christian head coach Bill Redell poses with running back/linebacker Malcolm Jones, left, and lineman Cassius Marsh after the two student-athletes were chosen to play for the West squad at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 9, 2010.
Calabasas (1-5) at
Thousand Oaks (3-3)
Outlook: Thousand Oaks looked great in last week’s 35-14 victory over Agoura.
The high-powered Lancer offense built a 35-0 second-quarter lead, and the team’s subs were into the game before halftime.
Calabasas had its hands full during a Week 6 loss at Westlake and faces another large homecoming crowd at TOHS.
An impact player to keep an eye on is Thousand Oaks junior wideout/defensive back Richard Mullaney, the team leader in receptions.
Mullaney’s size and athleticism could give Calabasas’ undersized defensive backs fits.
Coyote linebacker Sean Moore had 11 tackles at Westlake.
Webb (3-3) vs. Viewpoint (0-5)
Outlook: The Viewpoint Patriots will celebrate homecoming weekend with a game against Webb at Calabasas High.
Viewpoint has struggled for much of the season, particularly on defense, where the Patriots are allowing 42.6 points per contest.
Drew Johnston and Omid Servatjoo have been a productive pass-catching combo for VHS quarterback Alex Satnick.
Johnston, a junior tight end who also plays on the defensive line, leads the Patriots in tackles.
Defensively, Cros Kirchmann, Yuuto Isohata and Matt Arnold have all been productive players.
Webb has won three of four games, including an 88-0 victory over Lutheran on Sept. 19.
Last week’s top performers
Johnny Stuart, TE/DE, Westlake: Stuart, a sophomore, caught two touchdown passes as WHS rolled through Calabasas, 51-6, on homecoming weekend.Michael Difronzo, LB, Newbury Park: The sophomore linebacker had a team-leading 11 tackles as the Panthers got past Royal on the road, 35-17.
Thousand Oaks defense: Following a shutout of Simi Valley in Week 5, TOHS held Agoura scoreless for the first three quarters of last week’s victory.
Oaks Christian defense: The Lions took a pair of INTs to the end zone against Bishop Diego and held BDHS to 84 total yards.
