The second Ventura County Senior Summit will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sat., Oct. 24 at California State University Channel Islands in Camarillo.

The 2009 summit will focus on meeting the needs of senior citizens, including identifying how seniors can take action to improve conditions for themselves.

Keynote addresses will be presented by U.S. Rep. Lois Capps (D-Port Hueneme) and Gary Passmore from the Congress of California Seniors. Morning and afternoon workshops will include speakers from agencies and organizations that serve seniors in Ventura County.

The summit is open to the public. Admission is free. Lunch will be provided, as will transportation to and from the event.
