Put an end to Republican rhetoric
Like most Republicans, Congressman Gallegly’s so-called facts are slanted. If the stimulus hasn’t worked it’s because of Republican obstructionism.
All they want is for Obama to fail. If that means the country also fails so be it. I looked up the “independent” Science Applications International Corp. If you have to use studies by them to support your claims, you’ve already lost.
The job of health insurance companies is to provide quality healthcare to customers, not provide unnecessary middleman jobs to America.
A public option would also provide jobs––just not the insanely lucrative CEO jobs keeping a small percentage of Americans mega-rich.
If Republicans can come up with a decent plan that helps average Americans, not the CEOs of insurance companies, I’d like to hear it. Even if they did, they wouldn’t present it now for fear Obama would get credit and win a second term.
If Republicans won’t work with our lawfully elected president, they should at least have the courage to stand up and call for an end to the rhetoric encouraging violence.
Even when Nancy Pelosi pleaded for conservatives to call for a halt to this, Republicans turned it around and made it look like she put that idea into the heads of the insane.
I’d say if anyone is hurt or killed because of this rhetoric, it will be the fault of every cowardly Republican who didn’t ask for civility in dialogue, but people have already died.
Remember Stephen Johns? He was the security guard at the Holocaust Museum. Dr. George Tiller operated a legal clinic; agree with what he did or not, it was legal.
Whether they instigated the rhetoric that fanned the flames of hatred or were just too cowardly to call for its end, the blood of these men is on the hands of Republican leaders.
If the best middle ground we can come up with is that laughably so-called meet-in-the-center letter by Mr. Lundy, forget bipartisan, forget Republicans.
Get the Democratic agenda accomplished so we can get out of this mess.
They can thank us later. Sherry Jensen Thousand Oaks
