Wellness session addresses reconstructive surgery

The Wellness Community Valley/ Ventura will host a free breast cancer connection seminar titled “Breast Cancer Reconstruction Options” with Jay Granzow, MD, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 29 at 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

Participants will learn about the different types of breast reconstruction procedures available, and also the pros and cons of each type to help breast cancer survivors make informed choices. The myths surrounding each procedure, typical recovery times and insurance coverage will be discussed.

Granzow is the assistant professor of surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and assistant chief of plastic surgery at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. He has trained extensively in breast reconstruction techniques, including the most up-to-date DIEP Flap.

The free event is open to people with breast cancer, breast cancer survivors and family members.
