Discover why music matters

The Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library will host a family program titled “Music Education: Why It Matters” at 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 18 at the library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

Patrons will discover the Conejo Valley’s rich array of educational and performance opportunities from the music professionals who make it happen and enjoy performances from some talented students.

The informative program is presented by members of the Conejo Valley Branch of the Music Teachers’ Association of California.

This 2009 Thousand Oaks Reads program relates to the musical theme in “The Soloist” by Steve Lopez.

The program is free and open to the public, courtesy of the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library.  Guests may bring nonperishable food or toiletry items to the library for donation to the local food bank, Manna.
