Headline didn’t tell the real story

Anyone who may have just glanced at your headlines on the front page and not read the rest of the article about mobile home residents, would have been completely misled.

On Sept. 17, your front page had a headline that read, “City Council allows mobile home residents to own their spaces rather than rent them.” What balderdash! It should have said, “City Council betrays seniors.” For almost two years the residents of Vallecito Mobile Home Park have been fighting the owners of the park who want to “condoize” the park. This scheme pressures the residents, who mostly live on fixed incomes, into situations favorable only to the owner. This also frightens seniors who see their rent control disappearing and their lives coming apart. So, please, think before you write such misleading headlines. Our City Council doesn’t look out for seniors who have been seeking help from them—they only look out for themselves. Remember that there are two of these council members running for reelection next year.
