The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is sponsoring the annual Spirit of the Mountains photo contest. Submissions will be accepted through Oct. 31.

Categories include plants, animals, scenic shots, young photographers, people in parklands and Memories of the Mountains, a special category celebrating the park’s 30th anniversary.

Photos must be taken from anywhere within the SMNRA boundaries.
