Take the kids to Health and Fitness Day

The Conejo Recreation and Park District and the National Charity League will host a Kids Health and Fitness Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., Oct. 3 at the Thousand Oaks Community Center, 2525 N. Moorpark Road.

The free hands-on event will have activities designed to teach children of all ages the importance of fitness and nutrition.

Children can navigate their way through the nutrition alley, cook in the kitchen stadium, plant a vegetable in the garden area, climb and jump in the inflatables and race through an agility course.

Local athletic groups will have booths for children to try a variety of sports.

Activities for preschoolers will include a grocery store and obstacle course.

The Wheels of Freestyle BMX stunt bike riders will perform at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks High School north parking lot. Rene Bibaud from Ropeworks will showcase her jump-rope skills on the mobile stage in the park at 11 a.m. and noon.
