Qualifying organizations can apply for matching funds

2009-10-01 / Community

Conejo Recreation and Park District has created a Capital Improvement Matching Fund Grant program so nonprofit community groups may apply for matching fund dollars to initiate, plan, organize and implement a project in partnership with the district.

Projects will address easily identifiable park and recreational needs, such as additional park furnishings, maintenance issues and purchasing or enhancing recreational equipment. The projects must be completed in 12 months or less. The request for matching funds must be $5,000 to $25,000 for each project.

Organizations receiving grants must fund half or more of the total cost.

Examples of potential projects include refurbishment of fields such as turf, irrigation and lighting improvements; building or enhancing a physical improvement to a park or facility, such as an installation of a scoreboard, restroom construction, building additional fields, batting cages; and projects that serve all residents, such as shade structures, trail maintenance or installation of park benches.

The application deadline is June 1, 2010, for funding of projects beginning July 1, 2010.
