The 2009 Paws 4 Hope walk will take place at 11 a.m. Sun., Oct. 4 at Berniece Bennett Park, 31800 Village Center Road, Westlake Village.

The event will include dog walk and doggie contests such as Best Kisser and Best Trick.

Donations raised by walkers and their dogs will support the local cancer support programs of The Wellness Community Valley/ Ventura.

Event co-chairs Bob Ferber and Steve and Karen Furnari are both past participants at The Wellness Community.

Doctors gave Ferber one year

o live when they diagnosed him with an aggressive form of leukemia. Ten years later, Ferber shows no signs of cancer and is a strong supporter of The Wellness Community.

Ferber is an animal rights prosecutor with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Animal Protec

ion Unit.
