he botanic garden accepted the donation from the club’s past president Carol Amenta at a recent club meeting.

An additional $100 was given to the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden Trail of Trees to use for infrastructure, footpaths, purchasing and planting of trees, and picnic tables.

The Trail of Trees began in 2005 with a $2,500 grant from the Principal Financial Group/ National Garden Clubs Inc. program “Let Freedom Ring” with matching funds that year from the Westlake Village Garden Club.

Garden clubs throughout California have donated to the project. The 33-acre garden is managed entirely by volunteers.

Contributions were also made to the Santa Monica Mountain Trail Council and the Conejo Valley Historical Society. National and State Garden Club project contributions included the Theodore Payne Foundation for Native Plants, The Nature Conservancy, Pennies for Pines and the Sempervirons Fund for Redwoods.

The Westlake Village Garden Club will host the 2010 garden tour on Sun., April 25.
