Adoption information available at meeting
Children’s Bureau will host an information meeting on from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Tues., Sept. 29 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road.
Adoptive parents provide permanent homes for children who can no longer live with their birth families.
Children’s Bureau provides the information, services and support needed for the adoption process, including a comprehensive approach to matching families with children, 24hour support, weekly social worker visits, support groups, mentors and post-adoption services. Children’s Bureau does not charge a fee for an adoption.
Adults who are single or married may qualify to become adoptive or foster parents. Adults don’t need prior experience with parenting but they do need to be patient, loving and willing to learn about the needs of the child in their care. Parents must be able to provide a safe and nurturing home that has adequate space and complies with child safety regulations. Their income must be sufficient to meet the family’s needs; however, financial assistance is provided to care for both foster and adoptive children.
