Newbury Park has a serious traffic problem
The intersection of Wendy Drive and Gerald is dangerous, and Newbury Park residents need to take action. Wendy Drive is a thoroughfare from the 101 Freeway to Borchard Road.
Traffic is heavy, and many motorists exceed the 35 mph speed limit. I’ve spoken with numerous residents, and they all–100 percent–agree that the intersection and the crosswalk are risky and unsafe.
Several mothers mentioned that they won’t allow their children to walk or ride bikes to Sequoia because of the danger.
This crosswalk services three local schools: Walnut Elementary, Sequoia Middle School and Newbury Park High School. We must protect our kids!
I understand Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks has requested funding for a signal. I’m asking the city to aid her in finding money for the $250,000 project.
All concerned residents need to e-mail or call the city and county to show their support. Amy Grandpre Newbury Park
