Free prostate cancer screening offered next Saturday at Los Robles
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center is offering free prostate screenings to men between the ages of 40 and 80 with no history of prostate surgery and not currently under the care of a urologist who have not had a PSA screening in the last 12 months.
The free screenings will be by appointment only from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sat., Sept. 26 at the Los Robles SurgiCenter, 2190 Lynn Road, Ste. 100, Thousand Oaks.
The screenings include testing the amount of prostate-specific antigen in the blood and digital rectal exam performed by a urologist. Prostate cancer can often be detected early by either of these methods. Cancer found early is often treatable.
