Recycling event benefits toddler

Whole Foods Market and Coastal EWaste will host an ewaste recycling event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Sept. 26 in the Whole Foods Market parking lot, 740 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Quinn Kiera McMurtry, a 3-year-old girl from West Hills who is diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

The event will accept old, broken and unwanted electronic trash, including computer monitors, televisions, cellphones, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, VCRs, cords and batteries. Almost anything that runs on a battery or is plugged into a wall can be recycled.

Large appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers cannot be accepted at this event, nor can hazardous materials such as paint, automotive oil or toxins.

Large items such as big-screen televisions can be recycled. To arrange a pickup of large items, call (866) 410-9600.

For those who are unable to make the Sept. 26 date, an additional drop-off site is available at Bungalow Antiques, Design and Salvage, 28859 W. Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Drop-off hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 27.

Recycling items can always be dropped off directly at Coastal EWaste, 10023 Canoga Ave., Chatsworth.
