Public hearing on proposed power lines set for tomorrow
The California Public Utilities Commission will host a public hearing on Southern California Edison’s proposed construction of the Moorpark-Newbury 66 kV subtransmission line at 1:30 p.m. Fri., Sept. 18 in the Ventura County Government Center, Board of Supervisors hearing room, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura.
The project is being proposed to address overloads on the existing lines. The new line is proposed for construction between Edison’s Moorpark substation at the northwest corner of Gabbert Road and Los Angeles Avenue and the Newbury substation at 1295 Lawrence Drive, Newbury Park. If approved, the line would run through the Santa Rosa Valley.
The project includes construction of 34 steel poles, 75 to 100 feet tall, for about five miles and replacing 36 wood poles with steel poles for approximately 1.2 miles.
