Free landfill drop-off for household trash
Thousand Oaks residents may drop off their extra trash and bulky items free of charge from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sun., Sept. 20 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 N. Madera Road.
Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties will also be on site accepting gently used items and electronic waste.
Materials accepted include nonhazardous, residential trash, greenwaste and construction and demolition materials for recycling. Household hazardous waste will not be accepted.

To minimize delays, Waste Management requests that residents follow these guidelines:
Be ready with valid identification to show proof of residency to cashier.
All loads must be tarped pursuant to California state law.
All loads are subject to inspection.
All commercial vehicles are subject to applicable rates unless prior arrangements have been made.
Designated areas and containers will be available for easy recycling. There will be separate unloading areas for concrete, asphalt, greenwaste, and construction and demolition waste. Containers will be available to drop off and recycle metal items, paper and cardboard.
