Breast cancer support offered

The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura will host a free presentation titled “Frankly Speaking About Advanced Breast Cancer” for people affected by cancer at 6:30 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 24 at The Wellness Community Valley/ Ventura, 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

Silvana Martino, D.O., will discuss the needs of women newly diagnosed with advanced (metastatic) breast cancer and women who have lived two to five years with the disease. She will provide information about survivorship issues and new treatments as ways to empower women diagnosed with metastatic cancer.

Martino is director of the Breast Cancer Section of the Angeles Clinic and Research Institute in Santa Monica. She has specialized in the treatment of breast cancer since 1979.

Attendees will receive a copy of the booklet, “Frankly Speaking About Advanced Breast Cancer,” which is created by The Wellness Community in collaboration with Living Beyond Breast Cancer.
