Historical Society turns clock back at museum

Look back at Conejo Valley History continues this weekend

The Conejo Valley Historical Society and the Stagecoach Inn Museum will present the historical play “Our Towns on the Conejo” on Sept. 11 and 12 at the Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 7:45 p.m.

A matinee performance will be at 5 p.m. Sun., Sept. 13.

Dinner isn’t available for the matinee.

The dinner will be catered by Country Harvest in Newbury Park and feature rolled chicken breast with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, salad, bread, beverage, dessert and coffee. A vegetarian tomato basil pasta entree will also be available. Guests may bring their own wine.

The play, written by the historical society’s past president Elaine Williams, is a fictional journey of the Lindsey family of 1927 Encino as they travel back in time and meet the families who shaped the development of the Conejo Valley.

Cast members include Courtney Wood, Mark Goles, Sarah Haber and Ryan Bermont. Veteran actor Michael Lindsay plays the stage manager.

The Lindsey family discovers generations of Conejo settlers, including the Chumash Indians, the Borchards, the Newburys, the Fosters and Father Juan Crespi.

Mary Carrig directs the cast of 38 local actors.

Tickets are $42 for the dinner and show. Tickets for the show only are $20 for adults and $15 for children and seniors.
