Girls get help empowering themselves

The Girls Empowerment Center (GEC) has moved to 143 Triunfo Canyon Road, Ste. 201, Westlake Village.

The following girls groups are offered: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, grades six and seven; 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, grades eight and nine, and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, grades 10 to 12.

Groups are a safe, strengthsbased place to process the experience of being a girl in today’s society.

Weekly discussion topics build confidence, self-esteem and have been linked to increased school performance.

Girls are encouraged to discover their personal strengths.

The after-school program takes place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays for girls in grades three to five.

This enrichment program focuses on the physical, emotional and intellectual aspects of being a girl.

Girls participate in activities that energize the body and mind. They also may work on artistic and dramatic projects to develop their creativity.

The cost for each group is $25 per week.

The GEC Counseling Center provides sliding scale individual and family counseling to the community.
