Keep healthcare out of the hands of Washington, D.C.
The political bureaucracy is at it again. Now the Obama administration wants to take over a major segment of the American economy by controlling healthcare. Why?
To fully understand the problem, I asked my doctor if he knew of anyone who was denied medical treatment because of a lack of medical insurance.
My doctor’s reply was that any person may walk into any hospital’s emergency room and be treated. He went on to say that the penalties for not treating that person are so severe that the hospital will automatically treat all that come through the door.
This past year, my wife took me to Los Robles emergency at 11 p.m. on a Saturday night with chest pains. The first thing they did was to place an aspirin under my tongue and put me to bed.
I was X-rayed, given an MRI and an ultrasound of my internal organs. After I was stabilized, I was asked to complete an insurance questionnaire.
In last week’s Acorn , Chris Soltow asked that we should remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do).
I’m not sure if this is before or after the efforts of the liberal left to separate “church and state.”
But before their efforts to separate, Jesus would have done what the doctor did for me when I was a teenager in San Mateo. We were playing softball barefooted in the grass at a city park when I stepped on a piece of broken glass. An adult took me to the San Mateo County Hospital where the doctor took care of the problem at no cost.
Following the KISS philosophy (Keep It Simple Stupid), a better solution would be for local government to build medical clinics to serve the local population.
This would keep the national political bureaucracy out of our lives Gus Smyrnos Newbury Park
