Music revue to benefit youth
John Gaston, Paul Panico, and Robert Weibezahl, all Thousand Oaks residents, will prevent a musical revue, “Too Old, Too White, Too Male,” which will be performed as a one-night benefit at 5 p.m. Sun., Sept. 13 at the Thousand Oaks United Methodist Church, 1000 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
A happy hour with refreshments will be from 4 to 5 p.m.
The singers will perform show tunes that were written specifically for women, other ethnicities or actors younger than themselves.
They will perform songs from “Company,” “Pippin,” “Ragtime,” “The King and I,” “Porgy and Bess” and other plays.
The show is directed by Diann Alexander. Music director is Susan Treworgy. A group of instrumentalists will accompany the singers. Choreographer Kelly Wilkinson will stage numbers from “West Side Story” and “The Producers.”
Gaston, Panico and Weibezahl have appeared in numerous musicals staged by local community theaters, Cabrillo Music Theatre and Ventura County Gilbert and Sullivan Repertoire Company.
Admission is free, with a freewill offering benefiting the church’s youth music program.
