Girl Scouts will present family fun, sign-up day
The Girl Scouts will kick off the fall season with a Discover Girl Scouts Family Fun and Fall Signup Day from 4 to 6 p.m. Sat., Sept. 12 at Conejo Creek Park North, 1379 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Admission is free.
Parents and girls in grades K12 will have the opportunity to learn more about the Girl Scout experience.
Parents can register their dauthers at the event for the 200910 Girl Scout year.
The event will have activities and information booths showcasing popular Girl Scout activities such as science, health and safety; crafts; and community service opportunities.
Activities will include face painting, lanyard and knot tying and outdoor games. The Elks barbecue crew will provide free hot dogs.
Community partners and volunteer organizations will give demonstrations. Attendees are asked to bring a canned food item for the Manna food drive.
Adult volunteers and Girl Scouts in Newbury Park, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village have planned the activities
Scouting provides badge earning events, participation in community service, outdoor adventures, development of leadership skills and moneyearning activities for Daisy Girl Scouts in kindergarten to first grade through Girl Scout Ambassadors, grades 11 to 12.
Girl Scouts is forming new troops across the Conejo Valley for the new Girl Scout year, Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2010. All girls are welcome.
