The American Red Cross of Ventura County seeks nominations for the sixth annual Clara Barton Awards, which will be presented at a dinner and gala on Sat., Oct. 10 at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

The Red Cross will honor outstanding women in three categories: Philanthropist of the Year, Lifesaver of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

The nominees will be judged on their contributions to the community and a sincere desire to use what they have for the betterment of others.

Nominations will be accepted by mail at 836 Calle Plano, Camarillo, CA 93012, or by sending an e-mail to SanchezMaria @usa.redcross.org.

The deadline for nominations is Thurs., Sept. 10.

The gala will have a hosted bar, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, dinner, entertainment and presentation of the awards.

Singer, songwriter and philanthropist Richard Carpenter will present several awards at the gala. Tickets are $195. All proceeds will benefit the local chapter.
