New board elected by Wellness Community
Business leaders Jeffrey Smith and Margaret Serjak were elected in July to The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura’s board of directors.
The board says its new members will offer a passion for helping the organization achieve its mission of providing free programs of support and education to people with cancer and their families.
Serjak has been vice president of operations for the California region for Verizon since 2004. She has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
Previously, Serjack served as executive director of region operations support for Verizon’s former west region.
A native of California, Serjak has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University.
She and her husband Mark reside in Westlake Village.
Serjak was motivated to get involved with The Wellness Community when she and her husband supported her boss, who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Smith is a market manager with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust’s Commercial and Wealth Management Group. He is responsible for two Commercial and Wealth Management offices and collaborates with 11 retail branches in Ventura County and the San Fernando Valley.
Previously, Smith served as an executive vice president and manager of private and commercial banking for City National Bank at the regional headquarters in Beverly Hills.
Smith received a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA and lives in Moorpark with his family. He is a longterm cancer survivor.
